Dr. Amrita Basu co-led a successful PCORI Health System Implementation Initiative Award
Associate Professor Dr. Amrita Basu co-led a successful PCORI Health System Implementation Initiative Award, securing $1.2M over four years to implement a system-wide remote symptom monitoring program across UCSF Health.
This initiative will scale the use of electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs) across 33 cancer practices—leveraging Epic’s eSym platform to enable real-time symptom tracking, earlier clinical intervention, and more proactive care management.
The goal is clear: reduce adverse events, emergency department visits, and hospitalizations while improving overall patient quality of life.
Co-led with Laurel Bray-Hanin, COO of the University of California, San Francisco Cancer Center, supported by Health System Sponsor Inga T. Lennes MD, MPH, MBA and Associate Dean Dr. ralph gonzales who served as Co-PI—this is a strong example of cross-functional leadership driving measurable, system-level change.
